Rain eludes Punjab, Haryana, brief spell in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Aug 30 (UNI) Hot and humid weather conditions persisted at many places in the plains as monsoon rain eluded Punjab and Haryana for the second day today, while a brief spell of rain provided some relief to the residents of Chandigarh.
There was a lull in rainfall activity in Punjab and Haryanna even as rains lashed Himachal Pradesh overnight, bringing a considerable fall in the temperature in the hilly state.
Light to moderate rain lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh, including mid and lower hills, overnight. Dhundi was the wettest place in the state, recording 36.8 mm rain. Chamba, Sundernagar, kalpa, Pandoh, Suni, Kasol and Kahu areas also had rainfall.
Shimla and its surounding areas were also lashed by light showers last night. Tourist places of Wildflower Hall, Naldehra, Kufri and Narkanda in Shimla district also had rainfall.
A brief spell of rain in the late afternoon provided relief in Chandigarh where humid weather conditions had prevailed in the absence of rains for last three days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely occur at few places in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and isolated places in Punjab during the next 24 hours, according to the Weather Office here.
