Chandigarh, Aug 30 (UNI) The Punjab Government today issued directions to all food analysts to draw minimum 10 random samples of 'kanak' (wheat) and 'dal' (pulses) in each district every month to ensure distribution of quality product to the blue card holder beneficiaries under the 'kanak-dal scheme'.

An official spokesman said that detailed instructions had been issued throughout the state to keep stringent check on the quality of foodgrains being distributed under the scheme.

The analysts would submit the reports directly to their concerned Deputy Food and Supply Controllers. In the case of any failure of sample, the Deputy Collectors would initiate immediate action against concerned ration depot holders.

This would be a constant exercise to ensure purity of subsidised wheat and dal being distributed to the blue card holders.

The officers have been asked to ensure strict and swift action in the case of any diversion noticed during the checks.

An FIR has already been registered against two ration depot holders and supply has been suspended to 42 other ration depots after detection of irregularities during checks by the officers of Food and Supply Department.
