Srinagar, Aug 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes over the rape and murder of a girl in north Kashmir.

'' If the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had assured that a speedy court will be set up to conduct the trial of four accused persons who kidnapped, raped and later murdered Tabinda Jan by four youths, including two non-locals at Langate in north Kashmir early this month, the government should honour its commitment, '' Deputy Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone said.

He said it was a serious matter, concerning to all members of then house.

Mr Lone also directed the government to speed up the investigation and file a charge sheet against the accused in the court.

Earlier, raising the issue in the House during Zero-hour, National Conference' Mir Saifullah said that despite assurance by the Chief Minister no speedy court has been set up to conduct trial of the accused.

'' It was unfortunate that not even a charge-sheet has been prepared by the police though the accused has been arrested, he said and wanted to know about the status of the case.

Mr Saifullah, who was also joined by other NC members, including Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, insisted that government should react to his question.

Speaker Tara Chand, who was in the chair ruled that it was not necessary for the treasury bench to react to every question and called on another member to speak.

Mr Saifullah and Mr Mir then left their seats and came to the front row and demanded a reply from the government.

However, they resumed their seats after the Deputy Speaker assured them that they would be given chance to speak.

After hearing Mir Saifullah again, Mr Lone directed the government to implement the assurances given by Mr Azad on the incident.
