Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) Former Karnataka and Kerala High Court Chief Justice V S Malimath today advocated that Politics should be kept away from sports.

"We don't want its influence in Sports, but we want to gain fame and hence politics should not enter any sport, especially cricket", he said while speaking at a function organised by Karnataka Patrakarthara Sangha to felicitate former cricketers G R Vishwanath and Brijesh Patel here.

He said that Cricket was a game which attracts all sections of the people, whether they were big or small. However, to sustain the game at the highest level proper training was necessary and influence of politics may hamper in this endeavor. "A revolution is necessary to keep our house clean and politics away from sports", he suggested.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police (KSRP) A R Infant said that dedication was most important in sports to achieve the goal. Corporate sector should come forward as Government alone cannot contribute for the development of the sports, he said.

In reply to the felicitation, Brijesh Patel said that Karnataka State Cricket Association, for which he is the Secretary, had opened Academies in 12 Districts in the State to promote the game in moffusial areas. The number would be increased in the coming days, he added.
