Mother does it again, now deserts seven months baby
Aizawl, Aug 30(UNI): A 30-year-old woman, identified as Malsawmsangi, who had earlier deserted her three-year-old son, has abandoned him again, this time along with her seven-month-old child.
On August 30, Malsawmsangi, who claimed to have hailed from Khuangleng village, dropped in to the house of Vanlalpeka at Khatla here along with her two children. She said she was going to ask her divorced husband money to buy kerosene stove and left the house leaving her two children behind. It was later learnt that before she left she told her older son that she would not return.
Earlier on August 6, the alcoholic woman, left her three-year-old son in custody of a woman in a city bus stand at Temple Square.
Since she failed to return till the next day, the woman took the child to a police station. The Child Welfare Committee, which came to know of it, took the child and put him under the custody of the Social Welfare department's Friends of Children.
However, the boy was handed back to his mother after the latter promised that she would never abandon him again. Sources said, FXB, a Catholic Church-based organisation working for downtrodden women, had helped the woman to start a new life, but she chose to live her old life. Malsawmsangi's children are presently in the custody of Friends of Children, and would be declared abandoned children unless they are claimed within one month.
