More than 460 claim cases of Mumbai train blasts pending

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) As many as 463 cases relating to last year's Mumbai train blasts were pending till August 22 with the Railway Claims Tribunal, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Of these, seven were death cases and 456 cases of injury, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said in a written reply.

Admitting that there was some delay in disposal of injury cases in the Tribunal, he said 272 cases were finalised till last week.

To speed up compensation to the claimants, he said, the sittings of the Tribunal had been doubled from one week a month to two weeks a month, and a second medical board formed.

''As such no definite time-frame can be indicated for finalisation of pending cases,'' he added.

He said all the needy victims had been provided with artificial limbs by various non-governmental organisations.
