Make complaints, but not false ones against health officials

Chandigarh, Aug 30 (UNI) Assuring to take action on public complaints against corrupt officials of the her department, Health and Family Welfare Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla has also warned that counter action could be taken against those filing false complaints.

In a statement issued here today, she said that anybody could file a written complaint furnished with facts through fax at her official numbers 0172-2740724 and 0172-2747210 between 0900 hours and 1700 hours. Immediate action would be taken against the guilty, she assured.

She, however, said that if the complaint was found false and not based on facts then the complainant could face action. Corruption in any form was a punishable crime, she observed.

She has asked the officers at the state headquarters to speedup their efforts in conducting surprise checks on ultrasound centres and private nursing homes to check sex determination tests.
