Lt. Governor invites suggestions on Yamuna development
New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna has invited suggestions from people in Delhi and NGOS on issues concerning development of the river Yamuna to be considered by a High Powered Committee for Yamuna River Development constituted by the Centre under his Chairmanship.
All interested citizens, including representatives of NGOs, are to propose by September 21 particular issues, which should be included for studies by experts, covering different aspects of the development of the river namely hydrology, ecology, environmental pollution, quantitative and qualitative aspects of river flows etc. to be commissioned by the Committee.
Other members of the High Powered Committee for Yamuna River Development are Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as its Vice Chairperson, Secretaries to the Union Ministries of Urban Development, Environment&Forests, Water Resources and Chief Secretary, Delhi besides Expert-Members to be co-opted by the Committee.
The Committee will be meeting shortly for commencing its work.
