Low pressure likely over Bay of Bengal

Hyderabad, Aug 30 (UNI) A low pressure area in likely to form in the Bay of Bengal around September two and bring more rains to Andhra Pradesh, where the South-West monsoon has already been active in the last 24 hours.

''A low pressure area is likely to form over West-Central and adjoining North-West Bay of Bengal around September two,'' the Indian Meteorology Department said, adding that under its influence, enhanced rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls was likely over the state from September two.

Moderate to rather heavy rainfall or thunder showers were likely to occur at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema. Isolated heavy rain was likely to occur over all the three regions of the state in the next 48 hours.

Rapur (Nellore dist) recorded rainfall of 10 cm, followed by Armoor (Nizamabad dist), Jagitiyal (Karimnagar dist) and Wanaparthy (Mahabubnagar dist) nine cm each, Bapatla eight, Satyavedu (Chittoor dist) seven cm.

Other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm were Repalle (Guntur dist) six, Kalwakurthy (Mahabubnagar dist), Puttur (Chittoor dist) five each, Narsapur, Gudur (Nellore dist), Kollapur and Nagarkurnool (both Mahabubnagar dist), Metpalli (Karimnagar dist), Pargi and Vikarabad (both Rangareddy dist) four each, Kavali, Ongole, Achampet (Mahabubnagar dist), Atmakur (Kurnool dist), Atmakur, Sullurpet and Udayagiri (all Nellore dist), Mancherial (Adilabad dist), Paleru Bridge (Krishna dist) three each, Kurnool, Nandyal, Nellore, Ramagundam, Alampur (Mahabubnagar dist), Alur (Kurnool dist), Badvel (Cuddapah dist), Kaleswaram (Karimnagar dist), Kandukur (Prakasam dist), Macherla (Guntur dist), Seetharamapuram, Tada and Vinjamur (all Nellore dist), Tandur (Rangareddy dist) two each.
