LBP stages dharna outside passport office
Jalandhar, Aug 30 (UNI) The Lok Bhallai Party members today staged a dharna outside the Regional Passport Office here against the Central Government's alleged adamant attitude of not issuing passports to the persons held up in Portugal and other countries after reaching there through unscrupulous travel agents.
Party's General Secretary Ramandeep Singh Bharowal, in a press release issued here today said the Portugal government has opened an Immigration centre but the Indian embassy was not helping the stranded people to get passport and other documents.
The Lok Bhalai Party had demanded that Indian embassy should provide these youth with passports and other necessary documents so that they could get back to India, he said.
He said the members of Party's Portugal unit had also sat on dharna in front of the Indian embassy in Lisbon under the leadership of its unit president Avtar Singh for the same purpose.
