Laxity not to tolerated in flood relief: Nitish
Patna, Aug 30 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated that stern action would be taken against those found neglecting their duties in rescue and relief operation being carried out in the flood-affected areas of the State.
Mr Kumar warned the erring officers after inspecting a relief camp at Khagaria and said relief materials must be distributed among the flood victims as per the guideline issued in this regard.
Any sort of laxity on part of the officers in distribution of relief materials among the flood victims would not be tolerated, he added.
''The State Cabinet had earlier sanctioned Rs 1000 crore for rescue and relief operation in the flood-affected areas, while a fund of Rs 302 crore had already been released by the State Disaster Department in this connection,'' he informed.
Mr Kumar said the State Government was seriously taking steps to find a solution to the perennial problem of flood in Bihar.
''I had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take initiatve for a dialogue with Nepal to find an effective solution to the flood problem,'' he stated.
