Kar Cabinet decides to speed up pending rly projects in NK region
Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) Karnataka Cabinet today decided to speed up Bidar-Gulbarga and Munirabad-Mahboobnagar broad guage conversion works to ensure faster economic growth in North Karnataka region.
Briefing newsmen here after the meeting Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti said the state government would invest Rs 193 crores (50 per cent) of the project and had already released Rs 20 crores during this year for Bidar-Gulbarga project. With regard to Munirabad-Mahboobnagar project too, the state government would release 50 per cent of the total Rs 700 crores in a phased manner, he added.
He said the cabinet also decided to release Rs 128 Crore grants due to 1309 primary schools,667 high schools and 102 Junior Colleges from 1.6.1987 to 1992-93. It also approved sanctioning of Rs 47 crores for construction of government school building at Hassan.
He said the cabinet gave its nod for direct recruitment in 14 departments to inject talented young blood into the administration.
It also decided to bifurcate Horticulture department from Agriculture in view of growing number of importance being given to Horticulture.
He said the cabinet decided to revise the sugar policy to ensure that no new factory was permitted in a radius of 15 kilometres of an already existing factory.
