Jaya demands immediate release of arrested party workers

Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today demanded the immediate release of her party workers, who were arrested during the protest demonstration on the Kusasthalai sand mining issue.

In a statement here, she claimed that false cases were imposed on 82 of her party functionaries, including former Ministers Semmalai and V Somasundaram and Legislator Tiruttani Hari.

The agitation was to condemn indiscriminate sand mining in Kusasthalai riverbed, near Vidayur in Tiruvallur district.
