Hawara's plea over death sentence in HC

Chandigarh, Aug 30: The Punjab and Haryana High court today admitted for hearing the appeal of Jagtar Singh Hawara and three others accused in Beant Singh assassination case, to be taken up with the reference of death sentence.

However, no date has been fixed for the hearing nor bail was pressed before division bench of Justice Jasbir Singh and Justice Nirmal Yadav.

The appeal was filed jointly by him and other accused Lakhwinder Singh, Gurmit Singh and Shamsher Singh, who were handed down life imprisonment in the same case on July 27 this year by R K Sondhi, Special Judge, CBI, Chandigarh.
