Foreigner arrested for trying to smuggle out heroin

Mumbai, Aug 30 (UNI) A person of foreign origin was arrested by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit for trying to smuggle out 2500 gms of heroin, whose value was stated to be Rs 5 lakh in the local market, by an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

The officers of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit on suspicion intercepted the passenger who was leaving for Addis Ababa on August 25. Upon examination of his zipper bag, heroin, totally weighing 2500 gms, was recovered which was cleverly concealed in the bag, a press release by the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport stated.

The passenger has admitted to the possession, carriage, and concealment of the drug, and he has been arrested, the release added.
