Jaipur, Aug 30 (UNI) The Rajasthan Congress today alleged that the Vasundhara Raje Government has misused Central allocation of Rs 10,681 crore granted under the Sarvashikshya Abhiyan during 2005-06 for strengthening educational infrastructure in rural area.

Addressing a press conference here, Pradesh Congress Committee Teachers' Cell Convenor Ramgopal Sharma said the BJP led government had sought the allocation with the commitment of recruiting one lakh school teachers for postings in rural areas and for strengthening facilities in schools in villages.

However, the money provided by the Centre was spent on advancing the saffron party' political agenda through missions like Jal Chetna Yatra and Swasthya Chetna Yatra, Mr Sharma alleged.

He alleged that only 39,000 teachers were recruited against the commitment of appointment of one lakh teachers and most of the schools upto the middle level were facing an acute shortage of teachers.

He also criticised the government for not recruiting specialist teachers for subjects like Science, Mathematics, English and Sanskrit and this had led to an overall fall in quality of education in government run schools.

He demanded a probe by the CBI in this ''misappropriation'' of funds.

He also accused the state government of indulging in saffronisation of education and said his organisation would launch a year-long campaign against the ''mishandling'' of education by the government.

Meanwhile, the organisation has decided to felicitate 34 teachers and 15 schools on the Teachers' day on September 5 for their meritorious performance.
