Cong pooh-poohs TDP's claims on CoP transfers
Hyderabad, Aug 30 (UNI) The Congress in Andhra Pradesh today dismissed opposition TDP's allegation blaming transfer of City Police Commissioners (CoPs) thrice during its period in power for deterioration of law and order and the twin bomb blasts in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, party's official Spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy said during the nine-year TDP regime under the Chief Ministership of N Chandrababu Naidu, Hyderabad saw seven CoPs.
The transfer of a police officer was an administrative matter and to link it with the law and order situation was 'ridiculous'.
Stating naxalism and terrorism were badly affecting the society, he said the Congress Government was taking stringent measures to contain them.
The state and Union Governments were taking all possible steps to contain terrorism which had its roots across the border and decided to strengthen intelligence while offering special training to the police.
Mr Reddy said the TDP's campaign was malicious and advised the opposition to stop 'mud-slinging' and start functioning as a responsible opposition.
