Chouhan accuses Center of descrimination

Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) The UPA government at the center was adopting step-motherly attitude towards Madhya Pradesh as it had failed to help in the state government's efforts to boost industrial activities, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan alleged here today.

Speaking to newsmen after participating in an interactive meet of the industrialists, jointly organised by FICCI and Madhya Pradesh Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation here, Mr Chouhan said that his government had taken many pro-active measures to attract investments in the industrial sector.

"The Union government has extended various promotional measures to the Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh states to boost economic activities. However it is not so enthusiastic on the proposals sent by my government," he regretted.

The Chief Minister said that the high-power committee on clearance of investment proposals had approved investment to the tune of Rs 1,05,000 crore during 2006-07 and projects worth over Rs 29,000 were being implemented. The state government was taking measures to upgrade the Indore and Bhopal airports as International Airports, he said.
