Bill to help industries to absorb apprentices
New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) The Government today moved a Bill that would help in the training of apprentices and facilitate the industry in giving them gainful employment.
Moving the Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, 2006 for consideration and passing, Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes said in the Zero Hour that the Bill will make labour demand driven.
BJP member Rudranarayan Pany said that the contours of the Bill is broad but the backward classes should be given a priority. He said the HRD ministry should take the decision in this regard.
He demanded that there should be reservation for SC/ST in the private sector.
''This Bill has only been brought in for political mileage,'' Mr Pany said. He demanded a detailed discussion on the nuclear issue and said that the Government wants to avoid discussion on the nuclear deal.
''We want to have a debate on the nuclear issue,'' Mr Pany demanded.
