BHEL officials bag Viswakarma Rashtriya Puraskar class C award

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 30 (UNI) M Ramakrishnan, M Soundararajan and R Kaliyaperumal, employees of public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) Tiruchirapalli, have jointly won Viswakarma Rashtriya Puraskar class C award for the year 2006, from the Union Government.

A BHEL release said here tonight that the award consisted of a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and certificates.

The awardees, working in the Welding Research Institute (WRI) of BHEL had won this award for thier innovative development and fabrication of a new facility to test weld fracture toughness at low temparature while manufaturing electrodes.

Union Minister of state for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes will present the award at a fundtion to be held at New Delhi on September 24 next, the release added.
