Bangladeshi national sent to one year jail in Kashmir
Baramulla, Aug 30 (UNI) A local court in Uri today sentenced a Bangladeshi national to one year jail besides imposing a fine of Rs one thousand for illegally crossing the border.
According to reports, Mohammad Fakir, son of Chand Ali, resident of Muskinda, Bangladesh, was arrested by the security forces when he tried to exfiltrate into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) last year.
He was later handed over to police and a challan for crossing the border illegally was produced in the court of Sub-Judge, Uri.
Fakir was charged of illegally entering the state without proper permission.
The judge, after hearing the arguments from prosecutor and defence counsel, sentenced him to one year imprisonment. Besides a fine of Rs one thousand was imposed on him.
He said if Fakir failed to pay the fine, he will have to undergo further imprisonment of one more year.
The judge also gave one-day imprisonment to a driver Amarjit Singh for injuring one person in a road accident in 2006.
He also imposed a fine of Rs 1200 on Singh.
