Jammu, Aug 30 (UNI) A Bangladesh-trained Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, who was arrested on August 19, has revealed during interrogation that he had also worked for Al-Qaeda in Jammu and Kashmir, a top police official said.
Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Foibal in Manipur, was the first al-Qaeda operative to be arrested in the insurgency-torn state and also the first who got training in Bangladesh.
Sadiq, who was arrested by the security forces from Basantgarh in Udhampur district recieved training in Muzaffarabad, Karachi and Bangladesh.
The terrorist arrived in India via Bangladesh and reached Kupwada district of the state after completing his training.
An officer who was a part of interrogation team claimed that Sadiq has disclosed some exclusive information about al-Qaeda operations in India.
''Be ready for big news,'' he remarked.
Interrogation was on, he added.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IG) S P Vaid denied media reports claiming the al-Qaeda links of Sadiq.
Sadiq, who was initially assumed to be a Pakistani militant and identified as Abu Bakar, operated from upper reaches of Kathua, Udhampur and Doda, he said.
