Adik remembered as a great lawyer, politician
Mumbai, Aug 30 (UNI) Cutting across party lines, political leaders paid rich tributes to former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ramrao Adik who passed away here today.
Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna described him as a great legal luminary and a great administrator.
Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was his Cabinet colleague for a long time, said Congress has lost a great guide in Ramrao Adik's death.
Mr Deshmukh recalled that Ramrao Adik had refused to become the Supreme Court judge as he had wanted to devote more time to social work.
Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari described him as close friend. Ramrao Adik had immense loyalty towards his party, Mr Gadkari said.
NCP spokesman Prakash Binsale, while condoling the death of Ramrao Adik, described him as great legal expert.
Meanwhile, the body of the veteran Congress leader was consigned to flames at the Shivaji Park crematorium this evening. The Chief Minister was among those present at the funeral.
