Vigilance department has registered 13 cases, says CM

Shimla, Aug 29 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said challans have been out and few cases out of 13 been registered by the state Vigilance Department against various officers of the government during the past two years have been put in court.

Replying to a question by Ramesh Dhawala (BJP) during the Question Hour, he said since April 1, 2005 till August 20, this year, 13 cases had been registered against officers of public works (PWD), education, health, rural development and panchayati raj and public health departments.

Mr Singh said while four cases have been registered in PWD, two cases each have been registered in education, health and rural development departments.

Three cases were registered in the IPH department during the same period, he said.

He said challans have been presented in the courts in two cases and case final report (untraced) has been filed in the court in another, while the remaining ten cases were under investigation.

The Chief Minister said though there was no time limit in putting up the challans, the government would ensure that process expedited.

Replying to a question Subash Chand (independent) Forest Minister Ram Lal Thakur said the construction work on the proposed Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Kutsani, near here, would be completed by year 2009.

He said a sum of Rs 45 crore would be spent on its construction for which around 6.47.26 square hectare land was being acquired.

The consultancy work of the stadium had been given to a consultancy firm to expedite the process, he added.
