Punjab govt to announce incentives for boosting tourism
Chandigarh, Aug 29 (UNI) In order to provide an impetus to the hotel and tourism sector in the state, the Punjab government would soon announce some incentives.
This assurance was given by Tourism Minister Hira Singh Gabria here today while listening to suggestions from members of the state Hotel and Restaurant Association.
He said that as per the demand of the Association, the government would provide land for setting up Information Centres in the state. These centress would be run by the Association at their expenses.
Responding to another demand to reduce VAT from 12.5 per cent on eatables, the minister said that if the Association gave an assurance that the tax collection would go up, then the government would consider this demand.
The Minister asked the Accosiation to constitute a five member committee for holding discussions with the government on all genuine demands of the hotel industry.
