NSCN-IM cadres raze 30 houses in Peren

Kohima, Aug 29: NSCN-IM cadres allegedly set 30 houses afire at Jalukie Zangdi village in Peren district of Nagaland.

Sources here today said the house owners tried to resist and a few women were injured in the scuffle yesterday.

Official reports said the arson was an outcome of a boundary dispute between Jalukie Zangdi and Munglumukh villages under Jalukie sub-division.

When the villagers protested, the NSCN-IM cadres said it was an order from the ''high command'' of the outfit on behalf of the Munglumukh villagers, sources said.

However, Jalukie Zangdi villagers claimed that they had been living there since the past five years and never had any dispute with Munglumukh villagers.

Later, the villagers marched to the NSCN-IM council headquarters at Camp Hebron and demanded to meet NSCN-IM leaders but were denied entry.

Meanwhile, the Zeliang Students' Union (ZSU) and All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU) condemned the incident, sources added.
