New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the DDA, MCD and residents of Govind Puri/Kalkaji associations to file their stand on the policy for rehabilitation of the residents of the camps, set up after the 1984 riots.

Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice Sanjive Khanna directed the DDA to start the rehabilitation work of the residents of Kalkaji and Govindpuri at the earliest.

The Government had established camps to house the victims of the 1984 riots and had assured them that proper houses will be alloted to them in the near future.

Twenty three years have passed, but the Government have still not drafted any policy. Now the DDA wants to vacate the land. Many occupants have sold the land to others.

The government now wants to rehabilitate only those who were the original allotees.

The occupants of the land have contended that the government had framed no rules regarding the sale purchase of the land in question and they want each occupant to be alloted a new plot in lieu of the existing plots.
