Bhooporatam: 123 CPM activists arrested

Chittoor, Aug 30: Police arrested 123 CPI (M) activists, including 43 women, when they occupied government land at Karveti Nagaram as part of the second phase of 'Bhooporatam' (land struggle) in this district today.

About 1000 activists occupied 500 acres of government lands by pitching party flags and erected a hut, police said.

In Karveti Nagaram mandal about 8,000 acres belong to the government as forest and revenue lands.

They were booked under Anti-Goonda Act and produced before Puttur Magistrate Court.
