200 villages in Delhi would get sewer facilities soon; CM
New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister and Chairperson Delhi Jal Board Sheila Dikshit today said the state Government would provide sewer facilities in about 200 villages of the Capital very soon to ensure better sewage facilities at par with the other approved colonies.
Inaugurating an underground reservoir and booster pumping station of 1.7 MGD capacity at Kondli in the Trans Yamuna Area, Ms Dikshit said the DJB would construct 53 UGRs in the city by 2009 out of which 28 would be constructed in East Delhi.
Ms Dikshit reiterated the commitment of her Government to provide drinking water facility to all the residents for which the Delhi Government was trying to obtain raw water from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
''There is bound to be substantial improvement in water supply position in coming years,''she said and exhorted people to avoid wastage of drinking water as it is precious.

She said the DJB has commissioned a city-wide study, with a planning perspective of 2011 and it had created a workable model to commission 109 underground reservoirs. This would go a long way in improving availability and ensuring pressure of water in various parts of Delhi, she said.
