1 killed, 6 hurt in celebratory firing in MP
Bhopal, Aug 29 (UNI) One person was killed and six injured after an employees' union leader's private gunman opened fire from during an employees' procession, taken out to celebrate today outside High court ruling the Mantralaya here.
Leader Sharad Awasthi's gunman, Mahendra Singh, was arrested while leader L N Kalasia, who was heading the procession, was detained for questioning. The deceased was identified as Ramesh Vinayak, one of the band players in the procession. Seven people, including three band players, sustained shrapnel wounds.
Sources said the procession was taken out as a High Court ruling was in favour of a section of employees. Amidst a tug-of-war for the post of Madhya Pradesh Class Three Employees' Union President, the Court stayed the election of the leader of a certain section of employees. The other section was celebrating the ruling.
