Two policemen suspended for releasing two thieves
Kapurthala, Aug 28 (UNI) Kapurthala police today suspended two policemen for releasing two thieves without registering theft case against them.
Police said that SHO Satnam Singh and ASI Jarnail Singh released two thieves, Dharminder and Dev Anand, who had commited a theft in the house of NRI Deep kaur on August 19 in the vasant vihar area, without registering theft case against them.
The two policemen instead of filing a theft case against the thieves freed them after preliminary interrogation and only registered a case under section 109 of the IPC.
Parminder Singh Architect who is the caretaker of the NRI's house when went to the city police station on Aug 20 to inquire about the thieves got surprised to note that the SHO had freed both the accused.
He brought the matter to the notice of SSP. After an inquiry the SSP found both the police officials guilty in freeing the thieves.
Parminder told mediapersons that the thieves had stolen house articles amounting to Rs five to six lakhs from the house.
