Suspension of 18 MLAs revoked by HP Speaker

Shimla, Aug 28 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker G R Musafir today revoked the suspension of 17 BJP MLAs and one independent member from the House.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh moved a resolution under rule 319 (2) to revoke the suspension of the members who were suspended on Monday for the rest of the session, the disrupting the proceedings of the House.

The Speaker took up the resolution for revoking the suspension of MLAs after Question Hour.

Moving the resolution earlier, the Chief Minister said the conduct of BJP members in the House yesterday was against the principles of democracy and that they had lowered the dignity of the House.

He said government had always believed in strengthening democracy and therefore, keeping highest traditions of democracy and interest of the House, the resolution for revoking the suspension had been moved.

He said even after repeated requests made by the Speaker, the BJP members had continued to disrupt the proceedings of House.

The BJP MLAs and the lone independent, whose suspension was revoked, joined the House proceedings after lunch.
