Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) Standard Chartered Bank, India's largest international bank, will be moving to a five-day week with effect from September 1.

In the process, it will be the first international bank in India to move to the internationally accepted norm of five working days for all employees across the Bank to provide for greater employee work-life balance.

The move to a five-day work week was initiated in phases from April 2007 initially covering almost 2,000 employees of the Wholesale Bank, and Corporate and support functions. In the second leg, from September 1, the 5,500 employees of the Consumer Bank will come under the new five-day work week structure, the Bank said in a statement issued here today.

Standard Chartered Bank branches in India will continue to operate as per existing business hours. The Consumer Bank has effected necessary process changes over the last five months to ensure customer delivery is not impacted, business hours are not shortened and the branches continue to run smoothly even over weekends, the bank release added.
