SAP doubles Indian customers to 2,000

New Delhi, Aug 28: SAP, the world's biggest maker of business software today said it has doubled its number of customers in India to 2,000 in the previous year and reiterated that it plans to invest one billion dollars in the country by 2010.

''Markets like India are at an inflexion point when it comes to the adoption of technology by businesses of all shapes and sizes," company Chief Executive Officer Henning Kagermann said.

It took us nine years in India to reach the 1,000 customer mark and only one to double it, he added.

The company will continue to focus on India and China as it plans to scale-up its operation and serve upto 100,000 customers by 2010.

In India, it has customers like Hero Honda, Mahindra and Mahindra ONGC and Reliance Infocomm Ltd.

SAP started its operations in India in 1996. Headquartered in Bangalore, SAP India also has offices in Mumbai and New Delhi.
