Panel on 1857 celebrations to meet on Sept 4
Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) The meeting of State Level Committee constituted to celebrate 150th Anniversary of First War of India's Independence, 1857 will be held on September four.
The meeting will be presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, an official spokesman said.
He said the Haryana government had decided to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of First War of India's Independence in a befitting way.
With a view to providing honour and dignity to the freedom fighters Haryana, the state government had increased their monthly pension from Rs 1400 to Rs 3500 per month in addition to the Dearness Allowance, the spokesman said.
The government had also recently increased the amount for gallantry award winners, Paramvir Chakra and Ashok Chakra winners to a sum of Rs 25 lakh each, Mahavir Chakra and Kirti Chakra winners to Rs 15 lakh each, Vir Chakra and Sena Medal winners to Rs 10 lakh each and winners of Shaurya Chakra would be given a sum of Rs 5 lakh in lieu of annuity, he added.
