Mini Anganwadis sanctioned for Haryana
Chandigarh, Aug 28: As many as 252 mini Anganwadi centres has been sanctioned by the Centre to improve the health and nutritional condition of the children in Haryana.
Women and Child Development Minister Kartar Devi said mini Anganwadis centres would be established in small villages and scattered 'bastis' with a population between 150 to 300.
In these centres, all services being provided in Anganwadis would be provided to children and mothers through separate Anganwadi Workers.
She said earlier the scheme of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) was implemented in 128 blocks including ten urban blocks for child development, reduce malnutrition and infant and child mortality.
Under this scheme, a package of services comprising Supplementary nutrition, Immunisation, Health check up, Referral services, Health and Nutrition Education, Non-formal pre-school education to children below six years of age and pregnant and nursing mothers and other women in the age group of 15 to 45 years was provided in an integrated manner at the focal point called Anganwadi which was established for a population of 1000 on an average.
She said that ICDS was also being further expanded in urban areas of the state for which eight more ICDS projects at Kaithal, Jind, Bahadurgarh, NIT Faridabad zone, Ballabthgarh zone, Karnal, Sirsa and Thanesar were being set up.
She said that one Siwan ICDS project was being set up for rural areas of the block.
