Mercury dips to 34.6 degrees Celsius in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) A day after moderate to heavy rains lashed Delhi, coolness in the air prevailed as the mercury dipped to 34.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.
The Westerly winds provided Delhiites relief from heat and humid weather conditions, which prevailed last week. The minimum temperature came down to 27.2 degrees celsius, a degree above normal.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degrees celsius.
The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky during the next 24 hours with possibility of rain or thundershowers in some areas.
The national capital recorded 1 mm rain till 0830 hrs today.
The weatherman said the showers were caused by the influence of an off-shore Monsoon trough. It could be the beginning of a phase of heavy rainfall.
''The current meteorological analysis suggests that scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over plains of Northwest India from August 28 to 31,'' the Met office said.
