Mann receives another jolt as more members part company

Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 28 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by former MP Simranjit Singh Mann received a major jolt when 30 members of the party including two SGPC members tendered their resignations in protest against the sacking of party vice president Daljit Singh Bitu.

Mr Mann had on Sunday explled Bittu and 13 others from the party on disciplinary grounds. The expulsions had triggered protests from within the party.

Amongst those who quit today were SGPC and working committee members Ravinder Singh Khalsa and Bibi Surinder Kaur, Palwinder Singh Talwara, also a working committee member, District Fatehgarh Sahib SAD (A) president Jaswant Singh Rajindergarh and 26 other office bearers.

With the resignation of the two SGPC members today, SAD (A) now is left with only two members in the SGPC. Mr Mann had expelled SGPC member from Joga, Harcharan Singh Burjhari alongwith Bittu.

In a letter to Mr Mann, Mr Jaswant Singh Rajindergarh termed the expulsion of Bittu as an undemocratic step. He alleged that Mr Mann was functioning like a dictator.
