Hyderabad, Aug 28 (UNI) The Left parties today alleged that the World Bank policies adopted by the Andhra Pradesh government had a negative effect on most of the sectors, since the Congress came to power in the state.

Addressing a meeting on 'World Bank policies- three years Congress rule in the state', CPM Unit Secretary of Andhra Pradesh B V Raghavulu said most of the government sectors were badly affected after the state government accepted the third phase of World Bank loans in 2006.

'The medical sector was being neglected by not appointing doctors and lack of facilities. Government schools and colleges were not functioning on a par with private institutions, and even the government was encouraging drip irrigation as per the conditions of World Bank which would affect the agricultural sector in future,' he said.

Alleging that the present Congress government was emulating the same policies which the previous TDP government had adopted, Mr Raghavulu said the state government was not distributing land and house sites as it had promised during the elections. It was encouraging open land markets. The government was also allocating lands and mines to private agencies since it came to power, he charged.
