Krishna Janmastami and Krishna Leelotsava on Sept 4 and 5

Udupi, Aug 28 (UNI) The annual 'Sri Krishna Janmastami' and ' Sri Krishna Leelotsav' festival would be held in this famous old Sri Krishna Temple here on September 4 and 5.

According to a press release here today the entire event would be held under the guidance of Sri Vidyasagar Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Krishnapura Mutt.

Non-stop Bhajan would be held from morning till midnight on September Four at the temple by various Bhajan troupes drawn various parts of Undivided Daxina Kannada district followed by special mid-night Pooja to the presiding deity Lord Sri Krishna with offer of 'Arghya' (offering of milk and water pouring from conch) by assembled huge devotees to specially made clay idol of the God.

Janmastami would be followed by Sri Krishna Leelotsav on September 5 with the car festival of Lord Sri Krishna in the evening in which colourful event of breaking of clay pots filled with coloured water and eatables hanging on the erected poles around the main car street by a group of semi-nude people painted with blue colour would be held. Competition for tiger dance and folk dance would also hold on the occasion.

The release said that the Paryaya Krishnapur Mutt had also arranged several cultural and spiritual programmes as part of the festival from August 30 to September 6 including special poojas to the presiding deity, Tulasi Archana, discourses on Bhagawatha and various competitions for men, women and students. Eminent artists like renowned dancer Dr. Padma Subramanyam would participate in the cultural programmes, the release added.
