Investigate nexuses between smugglers-STF-FCF in Kashmir: minister

Srinagar, Aug 28 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered an investigation into the alleged nexuses between State Task Force (STF), Forest Protection Force (FPF) and timber smugglers in south Kashmir.

The investigation was ordered by Minister for Agriculture Abdul Aziz Zargar, after a deputation from Yarikhah Nandimarg, Kulgam, alleged that timber smugglers were looting the green gold in the area after paying bribe to STF and FPF.

The deputation said Abdul Rasheed, STF and Bashir Ahmad Itoo, FPF had helped smugglers to cut and take away trees in 20 trucks worth crores from the forests of YariKhah after receiving a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Demanding stern action against the accused, the deputation members asked for making foolproof arrangements for protection of green gold in the area.

An official spokesman said Minister directed the concerned authorities to investigate the matter and take stern action against those who were responsible in the malpractice.

He assured the deputationists that culprits would not be spared at any cost.

Mr Zargar reiterated the resolve of the government to provide corrupt free administration, adding that nobody in the administration would be allowed to incur losses to government property just for their meager personal interests.

He said government has attached assets of various officers, who had acquire wealth by illegal means and misusing of their position and powers.
