Human-like tumour removed from 12-yr-old,boy

Kohima, Aug 28 (UNI) People from here and adjoining areas made a beeline to have a glimpse of a 12-year-old boy after rumours spread that he had given birth to a 'baby demon'.

The doctors who operated on the boy had rubbished the rumour saying that it was a tumour, souces said today.

Doctors said the one and half kg tumour, which looked like a human face might be a 'teratoma type of tumour' or 'teratodermoid'.

The tumour had developed hair and hand-like projections with long fingers, nails and teeth, the doctors added.

''This is a kind of developmental defect. It normally occurs during the formation of foetus, where another undeveloped fertilised egg remains inside the foetus and takes a shape of tumour after birth,'' the doctors said.

The tumour had been sent for diagnosis after which the nature of tumuor could be confirmed.
