HP to conduct spl revision of photo electoral rolls

Shimla, Aug 28 (UNI) Himachal Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda today said the special summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls was being conducted with January a, 2008 as the qualifying date for all the 68 assembly constituencies of the state.

Ms Nanda said draft photo electoral rolls would be published on November 12. The draft rolls would be available in all polling stations and offices of concerned electoral registation officer for public scrutiny from November 12 to 26. Any citizen who would be of 18 years on January one, 2008 could enroll, she said.

Claims and objections could be filed at particular places from November 12 to 26 and settled between November 27 to January 6, 2008.

Ms Nanda said the rolls would be read out in meetings of Gram Sabha/local body concerned for verification on November 18. A special campaign would be undertaken in all polling stations on November 24 and 25 and electrol rolls would be published finally on January seven, she added.

She appealed to all the political parties and eligible voters to avail of the facility and cooperate with the staff of the election department engaged in special revision of photo electoral rolls.
