Hooda greets people on Raksha Bandhan
Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has congratulated the people, especially the women, for celebrating the festival of Rakhi in a traditional manner while availing the facility of free travel in the Haryana Roadways buses in order to tie the Rakhi to their brothers.
Mr Hooda said that as many as 15 lakh people today travelled in Haryana roadways buses as against 11 lakh commuters travelling daily in the Haryana roadways buses.
He said that the free travelling facility to the women and the children upto the age of 15 years had proved a boon for the women especially belonging to the poor sections of the society which could not afford the travelling expenses.
Now they had fulfilled their social obligations by tying the Rakhis to their brothers on this traditional festival.
As many as 3300 buses of Haryana Roadways were pressed into service to take commuters to their destinations. The instructions had been given by the Transport Authorities to the General Managers of all depots that maximum buses should be plied to carry the commuters.
