Devi Subhadra ties rakhi to Lord Jagannath, Balavadra

Puri, Aug 28 (UNI) Rakhi Purnima was celebrated in this pilgrim city in traditional style as Devi Subhadra tied rakhi to Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra in the Jagannath temple.

Students of the local Saraswati Sishu Mandir tied rakhis to the inmates of the Puri district jail and distributed sweets to them.

Elaborate rituals were conducted to observe the birthday of Lord Balabhadra inside the temple.

The peasants too observed this day by treating the ox and the bulls to ''endury peetha''(an oriya delicacy) and decorating the animals with colourful necklaces.
