CTC leads, Darjeeling tea takes a sudden dip

Kolkata, Aug 28 (UNI) CTC variety led the tea market with sales of more than 2,125,892.35 kgs with the dust variety staying close at heels with 919,584.70 kgs sold within the last week.

A Kolkata Tea Market Report stated that there has been good demand in the general tea market with CTC tea variety sold well especially in West Indian markets. There has been a fair export of this variety particularly in the larger broken variety. They have reached maximum support from the local dealers.

The dust variety also found good response in Western parts of the country.

Darjeeling Tea, however, had the least amount of sales with only 200,515.90 kgs sold this week. They did have good sales in the UK and the neighbouring countries.

The orthodox variety had good sales in West Asia. Their total sales stood in the third position at 835,924.80 kgs.
