Chennai, Aug 28 (UNI) The Congress in Tamil Nadu would finalise in a couple of days its report on the controversial Titanium-dioxide Project to come up in Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts in the state.

TNCC President M Krishnasamy, who led a team and interacted with the locals a few weeks ago, today held discussion with his colleagues, including the Congress Legislature Party leader D Sudarasanam at Sathyamurthy Bhavan, on the feedback from the people.

Talking to the media after the meeting, he said there was a mixed reponse from the people for the project. In some places, people welcomed the multi-crore project, while in some places people were against the project.

A section of people also demanded they should be given substantial compensation, if their lands were to be acquired for the project, he said.

Mr Krishnasamy also said the party would finalise the report in couple of days and present it to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

The Tamil Nadu government had entered into an agreement with the Tata Steel for implementing the Rs 2,500 crore project.

As there was stiff resistance from the locals and various political parties, the government decided to go ahead with the project, only after ascertaining the views of the local people.
