Blind girls make 'Raksha Bandhan' special for soldiers
Jammu, Aug 28 (UNI) Six blind girls from Mumbai today visited the International Border at RS Pura and tied tricolour Rakhis to soldiers of Army and Border Security Forces (BSF) this morning.
The group from National Blind Association, Mumbai, tied the specially made tri-colour rakhis and prayed for the long life of soldiers posted along the International Border in RS Pura sector, an official spokesman said.
A function was organised by the Army and attended by officers and jawans of an Infantry Brigade.
The girls were taken to forward posts where they tied rakhis to the soldiers deployed along the International Border.
The Army Wives Welfare Association gave gifts to the girls and thanked them for their gesture.
Several local girls also tied Rakhis to jawans posted at the Indo-Pak border near Suchetgarh and at Miran Sahib and wished them long life.
BSF constable T K Das, who has been from his family in West Bengal, said it was a memorable moment when the little girls tied rakhi around his wrist.
''We felt at home when girls from the local government school walked up to us with rakhis,'' another BSF jawan Pradeep said adding ''We have received Rakhis which were sent by school girls across the country.'' ''We are tying rakhis to soldiers so that they don't miss their family. We consider them our brothers. They sacrifice their lives for us,'' one of the local girls said.
