Bitta wants 'Anti Terrorist Military Force'
Hyderabad, Aug 28 (UNI) Former Youth Congress President and 'All India Anti Terrorist Front' Chairman Maninderjeet Singh Bitta today suggested the formation of 'Anti Terrorist Military Force' to effectively curb the menace of terrorism in the country.
Talking to the mediapersons here, Mr Bitta said police could not tackle the problem because of polticial interference. Terrorism could be completely eliminated in six months if a separate military force was created.
He also opined that terrorism could not be contained till the death sentence on Parliament Attack Case Accused Afzal Guru was implemented.
Mr Bitta suggested the President have special powers in dealing with Acts and files pertaining to terrorism and powers of granting pardon or otherwise should directly vest with the first citizen and not other politicians.
Alleging that the politicians were helping terrorists, he said this kind of interference was responsible for the assassination of Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and various terrorist attacks, including the one on him, TDP President Chandrababu Naidu, Mecca Masjid incident and the recent twin blasts in the city.
He would submit a memorandum to Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari this evening on steps to be taken to curb terrorism.
When asked if he was still in the Congress, Mr Bitta said he continued to be a Congress worker and his was an independent organisation.
