Amritsar heading for big score against Patiala

Patiala, Aug 28 (UNI) In the third-day final of Punjab Inter-District Under-22 Cricket Tournament, Amritsar are happily placed against host Patiala on the opening day here at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Amritsar scored 315 runs, losing 8 wickets, in the allotted 95 overs. Sumit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 94, which was studded with 9 fours. He played with great confidence and tore the formidable Patiala attack apart. M Sharma (59) and Sharad Lumba (50) also scored fluent half centuries. Vipin Chauhan (42) and Munish Bhatia (35) were the other main run getters. The 4th wicket partnership between Sumit Sharma and M Sharma produced 147 runs.

For Patiala, S Ladda bowled well to capture four for 82, though he was wayward at times and was rightly punished.

Ranji-discard Hardevinder Singh took one for 44. Kunwar Raina and Ankur Jund too took a wicket each, giving away 73 and 64 runs respectively.
